Skoda Vision IN concept made its world premiere today. Based on the localised MQB-A0-IN variant of the Volkswagen Group's modular MQB platform, Skoda Vision IN has been developed specifically for India and will be produced here. The production version of the mid-size SUV is scheduled to be launched in the country in early 2021. Upon its launch, the vehicle will rival the likes of second-generation Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and MG Hector.

Powering the Skoda Vision IN is a 1.5-litre TSI engine delivering 150PS and 250Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to a 7-speed DSG. The mid-size SUV will take 8.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph, with the top speed being 195 km/h.

Skoda Vision IN features a double slat grille, with both the frame and the slats made of lead crystal. It gets LED illumination as well. The grille is flanked by LED headlights with LED DRLs and indicators. There are LED fog lights placed below the headlamp setup. The upper section of the front bumper incorporates a crystalline, mesh effect air inlet, while the lower section consists of an aluminium front spoiler. At the rear, you will find razor-sharp, L-shaped LED tail lights, with horizontal reflectors. A crystalline light strip is placed between the reflectors. There is an aluminium diffuser at the rear as well. Other exterior features of the mid-size SUV include 19-inch alloy wheels, aluminium roof rails and panoramic glass roof.

The new Skoda design language defines the interiors of the Vision IN. It is being claimed that the Skoda designers have taken inspiration from Kalamkari -- an Indian textile printing technique -- while designing the dashboard. There is a free-standing 12.3-inch infotainment system. The gear selector lever has been replaced by a small rocker switch. There is a flat-bottom three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, with buttons and knurl wheels.
